Africa's Largest F&B Trade Show Returned With A Bang

At the recent Food & Beverage West Africa (FABWA) exhibition, organisers highlighted the event’s growing role as a platform for Nigerian manufacturers to improve their capabilities and technical know-how.

Brad Smith, Exhibition Manager of FABWA, emphasised that the annual conference transcends the typical trade fair. “As a business gathering, the annual event plays a crucial role in enhancing the knowledge and technical abilities of local food and beverage producers, ultimately contributing to the nation’s industrial development,” he said.

The event attracted more than 350 exhibitors from over 50 countries, offering Nigerian manufacturers access to cutting-edge technologies, innovative product ideas, and industry best practices on a global scale . Smith added, “We bring manufacturers together … to exchange ideas, seek new ways of product design, and understand market demands through opportunities for partnership and growth”.

International exhibitors echoed the sentiment. Immanuel Linggal praised Nigeria’s vast market potential, noting that foreign firms are actively exploring joint ventures and adopting new production techniques alongside Nigerian partners.Similarly, Chirajit Pakrasi of Venus Processing & Packaging highlighted the expo’s impact on showcasing innovations in the agricultural value chain, especially in frozen foods like yam fries and plantain.

Seun Ayegbusi, CEO of fintech company Klak, emphasised the importance of streamlined digital payment systems to support such high-volume, cross-border trade. Beyond product innovation, the event attracted more than 6,000 attendees, creating opportunities for manufacturers to gather market insights, identify consumer trends, and examine competitive gaps.

According to Smith, FABWA’s growing ecosystem of manufacturers, distributors, investors, and buyers is “a powerful driver for innovation and technical advancement.” He added, “FABWA will attract the attention of the Nigerian government to further develop this value chain, ensuring that local manufacturers are equipped with the knowledge and technical abilities to thrive in a competitive global market”.
